Cell Production Team

The Cell Manufacturing Team is led by Dr. Linh Nguyen. This team produces various types of immune cells that are used for investigational cancer therapy at the Princess Margaret. These cell types include tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), gene-engineered T cells, and dendritic cells.

The Team’s expertise includes manufacturing operations, product quality testing, process characterization, and drug stability studies. The Team has been involved in several technology transfer projects and have submitted regulatory packages including information regarding Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls for Clinical Trial Applications to Health Canada. Manufacturing activities are performed according to a quality management program; this quality program is integrated with the UHN Blood and Marrow Transplant-Immune Effector Cell (BMT-IEC) Program, which is accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT).

In addition to manufacturing cells for clinical use, the Team is also involved in basic research, with a focus on investigating the function and regulation of human immune cells in cancer. They also perform translational research, where preclinical laboratory studies are aimed at developing novel approaches of immunotherapy.
